When can I file bankruptcy in Woodstock?

Question: When can I file bankruptcy in Woodstock? I’ve got more debt than I can pay and I need some relief.

I have credit card bills, a car repossession and a second mortgage on a foreclosed house from a few years ago when we lived in Sandy Springs and had money to spend.

I lost my job because it got outsourced to a foreign country where the tech workers are paid not much and I started a job that pays way less than what I was bringing home and now I can’t afford all he bills. Each month I pay out more than I make and it’s finally caught up to me.

Each month I go into more and more debt and I need to have some options. I really want to know how long it’ll take to have a bankruptcy filed so I don’t get these calls and I think some lawsuits are coming because I got a call from a lawyer who said that his firm was going to sue me. I get calls and letters all the time and I don’t know what’s happening and my wife is scared that we’ll be in serious trouble if we don’t pay soon. I don’t need my salary garnished.

We’ve really cut back our spending and we don’t eat out much; we only travel where we can drive, to places like Florida, Alabama and South Carolina, and we sold the BMW and Mercedes, and the boat we kept at Lake Lanier is long gone. But now I want to know when I can file a bankruptcy.

Answer: We can file a bankruptcy case very quickly. We prefer to do an in-depth financial assessment for each of our clients. That assessment lets us and they know all of their options, like whether they qualify for a chapter 7 or a chapter 13.

Sometimes, however, a client needs to file immediately, perhaps to prevent a foreclosure, a car repo or a garnishment. In that case we can file what’s known as a “skeleton.” When a skeleton is filed, we can quickly obtain a bankruptcy court case number, but all of the necessary paperwork has to be filed within 2 weeks. Under certain circumstances, a skeleton can be very effective.

Really, we can file a bankruptcy as soon as you need it done.
