Woodstock DUI: Can Viagra & aspirin influence a breathalyzer test?

Question: I was arrested in Woodstock for DUI. I didn't even have much to drink and I think the breath test was influenced by some drugs that the doctor told me to take.

I was out with my wife for dinner at Freight Kitchen & Tap. I had like two beers and some whisky. I know I wasn't drunk. The Woodstock police pulled me over for speeding and running a red light. I told the cop that I wasn't drunk but he gave me some tests. He looked at my eyes, made me walk a straight line and had me raise my foot. I think I passed the tests.

I took the breath test at the Cherokee County jail and I blew a .142. I can't believe I was that high. On my first DUI arrest I blew a .21. So I know what it's like to be DUI.

I think that some drugs made my blood alcohol content higher. I take Viagra and aspirin almost every day. I took both before we went out to eat. I really think that the Viagra and aspirin interfered with something and made my alcohol level higher. What do you think? We live off Highway 92 in Woodstock.

Answer: There is no medical evidence that taking Viagra or aspirin will affect a Breathalyzer test for alcohol. We have reviewed the medical literature and looked at a number of studies, and there is no study that links Viagra (sildenafil citrate) and/or aspirin to a false reading on a breathalyzer test.

We will be on the lookout for any new studies and report back if their conclusions will help people arrested for DUI who use Viagra and/or aspirin.
