I need to file bankrupcty for stress relief

Question: I’m so stressed out that I need to file bankruptcy immediately. I got divorced last year and I’ve racked up serious debt. I owe my divorce lawyer money, I owe credit card debt, and I got personal loans from a bank and from my cousin. I can’t pay anybody because my job cut my hours.

The divorce was rough and we fought over child custody for my two daughters. We even had a trial and I was awarded custody because I proved that my wife was an alcoholic and that she smoked pot and did cocaine around the kids. So now I have the kids and she can’t pay child support till she gets out of rehab. I send them both to private schools, one goes to King’s Ridge Christian School in Milton and the other attends Woodward Academy in College Park, so that costs a lot of money.

My hours were cut and now I’m looking for another part-time job. I was a freelance computer programmer, but now I’m thinking of getting into massage therapy.

I can barely make the minimum credit card payments and I’ve stopped paying on the loans.

I need to file bankruptcy as soon as possible because the stress is impacting my health and the doctor said that I’m in danger. Can you help me?

Answer: Yes, we can help you. First of all, please realize that you are not alone. Many great people are suffering from too much debt. That debt causes stress, and stress can have major negative implications for your health. Stress has been linked to heart disease, gastrointestinal problems and depression.

Divorce and job loss or having your hours decreased can cause a financial spiral. Divorce can be expensive and that, coupled with job loss, has caused many people to consider filing bankruptcy.

The good news is that bankruptcy, either chapter 7 or chapter 13, can eliminate your debt and drastically reduce your stress level. Many of our clients tell us that filing bankruptcy was the best thing they’ve ever done. It stops the harassment from debt collectors and it prevents wage garnishments and lawsuits.
